Marienwerder Kloster Concert

Friday evening we rode our bicycles out on the bike path along the Leine River to hear a choral concert in a convent. We'd ridden our bikes out there on a Monday night 2 weeks ago to see the convent and saw the poster for the concert. At that point, we thought maybe Sarah and the boys would like to go, but they were still suffering from jet lag. We left too late, so we rode full out in high gear all the way and got there just as the 7:00 bells were ringing and the choir was about to walk in. Lovely old and new a cappella music, especially a King's Singers piece called "Just as I Am" and a plainchant.

Before we headed back, we were determined to find the Hexenturm in the woods near the church. We'd missed it somehow last time, but this time we found it. Just a stone tower with nice twilight views of the fields. Nothing special, but this is what we'll miss when we leave: a peaceful 10 km. bike ride along the river and interesting discoveries everywhere. This was our 30th concert to add to our concerts & plays list. We won't reach 50, but we've certainly heard a lot of lovely music in beautiful venues.
